I'm guessing that y0u have given up on me! It's hard to believe that it's been TWO WEEKS since the wonderful retreat. I'm still trying to recover. Everything is put away and the house is slowly getting back to normal. I am going to relax today...first time since before the weekend.
Every year the retreat is better and better and this one was no exception. A great group arrived on Friday and we were busy until everyone left on Sunday afternoon. What a fantastic group of teachers! Kathy and Anne Brown brought their amazing Cinderella Isabella jewelry. By dinner on Friday night, several necks were adorned with necklaces. Liz Mathews taught ten girls how to make a bracelet. She supplied the tools, stones and silver bracelet and put them to work. Most got theirs done by nights end.
Saturday morning started with Maggie teaching her wool applique. There were some nervous cross stitchers in the room but after a while, everyone enthusiastically cut and sewed the vine and flowers on the front of the needleroll. Barb and Alma taught the pin cushion class after lunch and entertained the group as well. They are hilarious and it was a treat just to sit and listen to them. They also bring lots of ideas and examples of how to give your stitching an extended life beyond the frame. After a yummy dinner, we all went outside to take turns on whacking the pinata where all kinds of gifts fell to the ground.
Sunday morning started with Barb and Alma teaching their needleroll class. Not only did they give great instructions on the stitched part, but taught us how to color remover and overdye cotton fabric that was used for the outside of the roll. We knew we were going to get down to business when Barb put on her rubber gloves!!! After lunch, Kathy taught the beautiful stocking class which kept everyone busy for the rest of the day. I left that afternoon feeling exhausted but excited that so much fun was packed into such a short time.
On the baby front, no appearance of Lily just yet. Elisabeth went to the doctor this morning and has to go again on Monday as her blood pressure was a little high. Only a few more weeks left until the big event!
My computer isn't cooperating this morning so I will continue to add pictures from the retreat. If any of the attendees has good ones that they want posted, send them to me in an email and I will be happy to share! Have a great weekend.
